Yakima Transit was awarded funding from the Federal Transit Association (FTA) through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021 to be used towards purchasing two 35-foot low floor Gillig fixed-route transit buses as part of Yakima Transit’s capital vehicle replacement plan.
Yakima Transit was awarded $1,100,000 on September 15, 2022. These buses will be ordered in December 2022 and will be delivered approximately in March of 2024. The buses will be purchased with 100% funding from the ARPA of 2021. Local sales tax will not be needed for a match. It is necessary for the City of Yakima to enter into Grant Agreement WA-2022-063-01-00 with FTA for allocation of this funding. |
