SUMMARY EXPLANATION: | As part of the settlement of the Montes and Arteaga v. City of Yakima, et al., the City of Yakima created a Mentorship-Internship program for selected high school students from the Yakima School District. The program was approved by Council in 2017 and started thereafter. It is funded through the settlement of the lawsuit and provides a mentorship opportunity for high school students with councilmembers, as well as a paid summer internship opportunity. For the Council’s review is the report regarding the 2022 Program and the overall information about the Program from its inception. The funding for the program set aside as part of the settlement has been fully expended. |
