SUMMARY EXPLANATION:

The City of Yakima (City) Parks and Recreation Division provides a wide range of programs and recreation services to the community.  It is the goal of the City's Parks and Recreation Division to keep fees and charges as low as possible so that many people can to take advantage of the quality programs and facilities.

Over the past few years, the cost to provide the same level of recreation programs and facilities has increased for many reasons.  Some examples for the need to increase fees are increase cost for goods and services, increased utility costs and the increases in minimum wage. Research was completed regarding like programs and services that are provided in other communities to assist with developing the proposed fees.  Parks and Recreation fees were reviewed by Yakima City Council in 2018 and fees were increased in 2019.
