ITEM TITLE:Resolution establishing the Policies and Procedures for Naming Public Parks and Parks and Recreation Facilities

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:

At the June 14, 2022 City Council Study Session, City Council directed staff to bring a resolution establishing the policies and procedures for naming public parks and park and recreation facilities to an upcoming regular city council meeting removing the wording "and who has been deceased for a period of at least one year" from section 1 e of the current Resolution R- 2005 - 51.

 

Enclosed for City Council review is both a clean and a red-lined copy of the proposed revision to Resolution R-2005-51.

RECOMMENDATION:
At the May 2022 Yakima Parks and Recreation Commission meeting, the Park and Recreation Commissioners discussed the elimination of the wording "and has been deceased for a least one year" from the current resolution.  The Commissioners had a wide range of opinions, but did not make a formal recommendation to City Council.
