ITEM TITLE:Arts Commission Presentation on Potential  Creative District

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:

Members of the City of Yakima Arts Commission have been working with local stakeholders to evaluate the potential for the City of Yakima to  establish a Creative District.  The Arts Commission will present to  provide an over-view of this tool, as established in RCW43.46.100.

 

If the City Council is interested in pursuing this designation, the Council may direct staff to bring a resolution to the City council for adoption at a future City Council meeting.

APPROVED FOR SUBMITTAL BY THE CITY MANAGER
RECOMMENDATION:
Receive the presentation and  direct staff to prepare a " Resolution  of Interest" to the Washington State Arts Commission, if the Council wishes to pursue a City of Yakima Creative District. This is the first step in starting the process with the State.
