Segments of Summitview Avenue were last overlaid in 1990. The City of Yakima's Street Division conducts crack sealing annually in an attempt to further reduce degradation of this segment of roadway, but additional cracks continue to develop.
Proposed improvements consist of milling the top surface and replacing it with an asphalt overlay, paving fabric, new pavement markings, and replacement of non-ADA compliant curb ramps from 40th Avenue to 48th Avenue and 56th Ave. to 72nd Avenue.
The City of Yakima received funding through the Department of Transportation National Highway System (NHS) Asset Management program in the amount of $2,315,440 with no local match required for the Summitview project.
HLA Engineering and Land Surveying, Inc. was selected to prepare engineering plans and specifications for the Summitview project in the amount not to exceed $200,000. The contract with HLA has been attached for City Council review. |
