In 2017, the City Council formed a Transportation Benefit District (TBD) for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, improving, providing, and funding transportation improvements within the City of Yakima. A project list was approved with City Council establishing a $20.00 vehicle fee to fund the approved projects.
As priorities change, and the need arises to add additional projects to the project list, City Council has the authority to modify the project list in accordance with RCW 36.73.050. In order to modify the list, a public hearing must be held in which the public can provide input.
Enclosed is the current TBD Project list. At the October 14, 2021 Budget Session, City Council indicted interest in possibily adding the following projects to the TBD project list:
- Intersection at 66th Ave. & Englewood - Cost to be determined as a Warrant Analysis needs to be conducted to determine what safety improvements may be necessary.
- Nob Hill Blvd. (34th Ave to 44th Ave.) - Approximately $635,000; grind & overlay
- 6th Ave. (Trolley Track) - Two options
1. Approximately $6.9 million; complete grind & overlay/trolley track replacement
2. Approximately $3.9 million; partial grind & overlay/trolley track replacement
- 40th Ave./Chestnut Intersection - Cost to be determined as an Engineering Study needs to be conducted first to determine what safety improvements may be necessary.
