Resolution authorizing an Agreement with Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office for a grant of $4,134,000 for Nelson Dam Removal: Water Supply, Riverine Process and Fish Passage Improvements

This is an Agreement with the Washington State Recreational and Conservation Office (RCO) for the Brian Abbott Fish Barrier Removal Board Grant.  The City of Yakima (City) applied for this grant last year and was selected first out of 88 other applicants.

The grant will fund $4,134,000 towards the Nelson Dam Removal: Water Supply, Riverine Process and Fish Passage Improvement project.  This project will remove the existing Nelson Dam and replace it with a roughened channel that will improve fish passage and provide for a more reliable water supply for irrigation. A copy of Agreement 20-1601R is attached for City Council review.
