The Yakima Youth Leadership Program (YYLP) currently is funded through a FY 2019 OJJDP grant set to expire on September 30, 2022. The Walk About Yakima (WAY) program’s funding is also ending. A new grant opportunity has arisen which will allow the City to apply for additional funding for FY 2021—2024 to continue one or both of these programs (we are still discussing the strategy for the application). Staff is seeking authorization to apply for the grant and take all necessary steps to finalize the grant application. This generally authorizes the City Manager and/or the Mayor to sign the necessary application documents, depending on the document. If the grant is awarded, staff will return to City Council for final authorization to accept the grant funds. |
