In May of 1956, the City acquired 2.77 acres from the Squire-Ingham Company to install a Ranney Collector (Well) to augment the City drinking water supply. The Statutory Warranty Deed the City received from Squire-Ingham Co. with the 2.77 acre Ranney Well parcel states “…subject to the right of the Grantors to repurchase said property from the City for a sum of $1.00 if and in the event at any future time the City abandons said well site”.
The Ranney Collector has failed to produce enough water and had been abandoned and physically removed from the site. The Ranney water rights were transferred to Gardner Well and Kissel Well.
To comply with the deed requirements, the property must be declared surplus to the City needs and must be sold back to the Grantor, Squire-Ingham Co. for $1.00. |
