ITEM TITLE:Project Completion and Contract Acceptance for Selland Construction, Inc. - Project 2491 Yakima Alley Improvements - Phase 1

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:

City Project 2491 provided for the Yakima Alley Improvements Project - Phase 1.  The City contracted with Selland Construction, Inc. for improvements within nine (9) alleys in the region bounded by Cherry Ave./Garfield Ave. to the north and south, and Lewis Ave./Cherry Ave. to the west and east. The improvements included excavation of existing alley material, placement of new base rock and asphalt at a fourteen (14) foot width, and replacing or installing new concrete approaches at each alley entrance.  The Project improved air quality, access, and storm drainage. 

 

Final inspection for this project was made and the recommendation is that the project be accepted.  Project completion is subject to issuance of Certificate of Payment by the Department of Revenue and authorizations from state agencies allowing final payment.  A final payment of $19,066.33 (5% retainage) is due from the City to Selland Construction, Inc. for the completion of the work.

The total contract cost is for construction only and does not include engineering and other costs.  City Council action is required to accept the project and approve the final construction costs.
