Yakima County collects sales and use taxes under specific statutory authority for the purpose of providing resources to assist the financing of public facilities within Yakima County. The funds collected are identified as Supporting Investments in Economic Diversification (SIED) funds, and are administered and distributed by Yakima County, with the assistance of the SIED Board. Yakima County, with the support of the SIED Board, have determined that they would like to provide the Yakima YMCA with a SIED grant in the amount of $1 million to pay for completed on-site infrastructure improvements specifically identified in the attached Yakima County and City of Yakima SIED Contract. The County has asked the City of Yakima to act as a pass-through provider of the SIED funds, as more fully described in the terms of the Contract.
The grant funds may only be applied to the specific infrastructure improvements identified in Appendix A of the attached Contract and only when those elements have been fully completed as certified by the construction engineer. The City has had no role in the construction of the infrastructure improvements that are subject to grant compensation. The specified improvements are part of the YMCA/Aquatics Center Complex property associated primarily with the parking lot area. |
