Yakima Transit is required under RCW 35.58.2795 to prepare a Six-Year Transit Development Plan (Six-Year Plan) for the current calendar year and the ensuing five years by September 1st of each year. The annual plan is mandated to receive State and Federal grant funding.
The Six-Year Plan must be consistent with comprehensive plans adopted by counties, cities, and towns and is required to contain information as to how the municipality intends to meet state and local long-range priorities for public transportation, capital improvements, significant operating changes planned for the system, and how Yakima Transit intends to fund plan needs. The Six-Year Transit Development Plan is reviewed and updated each year by the City Council and is used as a guide in planning Transit programs and capital projects.
The Six-Year Plan must specifically set forth projects of regional significance for inclusion in the Transportation Improvement Plan within that region. In developing the Plan, Yakima Transit must also consider policy recommendations affecting public transportation contained in the State Transportation Policy Plan approved by the State Transportation Commission.
A public hearing was held October 30, 2019 regarding the Six-Year Transit Development Plan 2019-2024 and Annual Report for 2018. After this meeting no revisions were suggested. A copy of the plan is attached for City Council review. |
