Attached for City Council approval is the City of Yakima Engineering Division's 3rd Quarter 2019 Capital Improvement Projects Memorandum and Project Spreadsheet to provide updates on current Capital Improvement Projects from the Water/Irrigation, Wastewater/Stormwater, Streets, Traffic and Engineering Divisions.
The project list assists in the planning of current and upcoming projects. It helps the divisions coordinate their work efforts so that, for example, a street is not rebuilt or seal coated prior to scheduled underground work within the same street.
Work performed during the 3rd Quarter included:
Garfield Elementary Safety Improvements - (sidewalks and one-way street changes)
Work is substantially complete. The final piece of construction is for Spectrum (telecommunications company) to remove 5 old wooden utility poles and to place a 5ft. x 5ft. concrete sidewalk panel in each of the 5 locations.
North 1st Street Corridor Revitalization – ‘N' Street to SR-12 (Phase 1) --
Work is 95% complete and will continue into November. Final work is mostly with landscaping and roadside cleanup. Street lighting is in but not energized yet.
Spring Creek Road - S. 36th Avenue and Sorenson Road near the SOZO Sports Complex
Work is substantially complete. Street lighting is in but not energized yet.
River Road, 34th Avenue to 40th Avenue - Roadway widening – sidewalks and street lighting
Street lighting is in but not energized yet.
