ITEM TITLE:Resolution authorizing acceptance of Passenger Facility Charge revenues from U.S. Department of Transportation

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:

The Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) Program allows the collection of PFC fees at a rate of $4.50 for every boarded passenger at commercial airports controlled by public agencies.

 

These funds can be allocated and used by the City for the financing and construction of capital improvements and as the City’s share of matching funds for construction of capital improvements to the Yakima Air Terminal-McAllister Field and its facilities.  Approved Federal Aviation Administration projects include replacement of the airport's runway lighting system, airport beacon, passenger boarding stairs, and security software.  These projects will ultimately enhance safety, security, capacity, and passenger experience at the Yakima Air Terminal-McAllister Field.
