ITEM TITLE:Resolution authorizing a collective bargaining agreement for 2018-2021 with the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) Local 469

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:

City Management and IAFF 469 representatives negotiated in good faith, a contract setting forth the wages, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment for four years (2018-2021). To that end, both parties recommend the City Council review and approve the attached CBA proposal. The IAFF 469 group has voted and ratified this proposed agreement.

 

Highlights of the proposed CBA include:

  • Wage adjustment of 2.5% for 2018,  and 2.5% for 2019, 2020 and 2021.
  • A catch-up provision of 1.25% for 2018 and 1.0% for 2019.
  • Effective 2020 the average 24-hour shift work week will be reduced from 50.46 hours per week to 49.99 hours per week.
  • Effective 2021 the average 24-hour shift work week will be reduced from 49.99 hours per week to 49.54 hours per week.
