The City of Yakima has been working with the Department of Ecology to clean up the former Tiger Oil site located at 2312 W. Nob Hill Boulevard since 2014. In 2014, the City used the Municipal Research Service Center Roster process to select Maul, Foster and Alongi, Inc. (MFA) to develop the engineering plans, perform inspection services and perform the groundwater monitoring required for the eight quarters following the project.
As there is still contamination at the site, the City of Yakima has received a $1,280,000 grant from the Department of Ecology (DOE) to perform post-remediation actions. As MFA has been performing the environmental engineering required at this site for the last four years, has a good working relationship with the Department of Ecology, it is in the best interest of the City to continue working with them to meet the requirements of DOE. The tasks include:
1. Perform groundwater monitoring.
2. Conduct an indoor air and sub-slab vapor assessment of the Xochimilco
Mexican restaurant and the former One Love smoke shop buildings.
3. Perform high resolution site characterization and natural source zone depletion
assessment in order to determine the extents of the underground gas plumes.
4. Perform vacuum-enhanced extraction interim remedial action.
The terms of the Supplemental Agreement No. 4 with MFA shall be in an amount not to exceed $375,000. (See attached Agreement with Exhibit A and B) |
