ITEM TITLE:Open record public hearing to consider the Yakima Planning Commission's recommendation on a Comprehensive Plan Amendment (CPA#004-18) and Rezone (RZ#005-18) request submitted by Riverpointe Landing LLC/ Westtowne LLC

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:

Hordan Planning Services, on behalf of Riverpointe Landing LLC., submitted Comprehensive Plan Map Amendment (CPA), Rezone, and Environmental Review applications for three (3) parcels totaling 6.74 acres located at 1429, 1431, and 1439 N 16th Ave. The property owner is requesting to change the Future Land Use Map designation from Regional Commercial to Industrial and to concurrently rezone from Large Convenience Center (LCC) to Light Industrial (M-1). After holding a study session on July 11, 2018 and a public hearing on August 22, 2018, the Yakima Planning Commission recommended approval of the Comp Plan Amendment and Rezone applications, with the Findings being signed by the chair on August 31, 2018.

 

In accordance with YMC 16.10.090, the City Council shall direct planning staff to prepare legislation to approve, approve with conditions, or deny each amendment under consideration; and at a subsequent City Council meeting enact an Ordinance adopting the decision reached at the public hearing.

The Public Hearing notice has been provided to all Yakima-area media, including Tu Decides, KDNA Radio, El Sol de Yakima, Hispanavision, Bustos Media, and El Mundo.

BOARD/COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION:
The Yakima Planning Commission held a public hearing on August 22, 2018 and recommended approval of the requests. The chair signed the Commission's Findings on August 31, 2018.
