Yakima Transit obligates $100,000 per year in its Capital Improvement Fund for sidewalk installation and improvements. Yakima Transit recognized that throughout its fixed route bus system, there are several locations lacking sidewalks for passengers to safely access Yakima Transit’s bus stops. This is a safety issue for all passengers; particularly for those with limited mobility.
There was an identified need for a sidewalk along the east side of 40th Avenue with the recently installed pedestrian crossings at the intersection of 40th Avenue and Chestnut Avenue. Utilizing the state bidding process to advertise for bids, two contractors submitted bids, with Allstar Construction Group, Inc. submitting the lowest bid of $138,638.06. See attached Contract. Allstar Construction Group, Inc. has the expertise and experience to properly install the sidewalk and ramps.
City Project #2466 provides for the installation of the sidewalk and ADA-compliant curb ramps along the east side of 40th Avenue from Walnut Avenue to north of Chestnut Avenue; improving public safety for residents and Transit passengers alike. The project is funded by Transit Capital Fund 464.
