On October 27, 2017, the City of Yakima Department of Community Development received a petition from Ken Nass, for the vacation of a portion of platted right-of-way. The proponent has requested this vacation in order to use the right-of-way for parking for the adjacent businesses and add additional tax revenue to the City. (Legal description and site plan included in File No. RWV#001-17.)
There are no future City plans for development of the subject right-of-way. The City of Yakima records indicate that the subject right-of-way was originally dedicated to the County of Yakima by the Plat of McGlothern Homes Sites Number 6 on June 28, 1946.
On January 25, 2018, and continued to February 8, 2018, the Hearing Examiner for the City of Yakima conducted an open-record public hearing regarding the requested right-of-way vacation. No comments were received during the open record public hearing. On February 23, 2018, the Hearing Examiner issued a Recommendation stating that the platted street right-of-way be vacated pending City Council approval. |
