At the September 6, 2016 City Council meeting, the City Council directed that a public hearing be set on September 20, 2016, to address an amendment of the land use regulations and locations to add Family Home Child Care facilities to the definition of Child Care Centers found in YMC 15.09.220(B). This action would require the 1000' buffer from these centers from potential locations of retail marijuana production, processing, research and retail sales. Currently, there are 29 Child Care Centers licensed under WAC 170-295, and fall under the current definition, and 77 Family Home Child Care facilities licensed under WAC 170-296A in the City of Yakima, which do not fall under the current definition.
A series of four maps have been prepared to illustrate the existing conditions of Ordinance 2016-08 and the impact of the suggested changes.
Map 1: Existing conditions reflecting Ord. 2016-08
Map 2: Existing conditions, but adds 1000' buffer Family Home Child Care Facility locations to exclude licenses
Map 3: Existing conditions, but allows retail sales in SCC zones that meet the buffer
Map 4: Existing conditions and adds both SCC zones to potential retail areas, as well as includes Family Home Child Care Facilities in its buffer analysis |
