The Downtown Association of Yakima, the Apple Valley Kiwanis Club, and Yakima Volkswagen Club have requested the City Council allow open cruising on six nights in the 2016 summer season. Open cruising will be allowed from 6-10 p.m. each of the Cruise Nights. Each applicant has agreed to pay half of the Yakima Police Department overtime costs associated with the event (typically $250 per cruise night) and submit a Certificate of Insurance. In 2015, the Cruise Nights welcomed huge crowds to Yakima Avenue with all ages and walks of life represented. |
