ITEM TITLE:Amend North First Street Project Design and Phasing
SUBMITTED BY:

Brett Sheffield, Chief Engineer

Debbie Cook, Director of Engineering and Utilities

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:

The North First Street Revitalization project is a City Council Economic Development priority. Construction funding will be provided from a combination of Federal Surface Transportation Program (STP) funds and a City Council issued bond. This report recommends a slight modification in the construction sequencing and design layout for the street corridor.

Construction sequencing of the North First Street Revitalization project will begin at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to "I" Street; the next construction phase will be "I" Street to "N" Street, then the final construction sequence will be "N" Street to I-82.

Bicycle facilities will include buffered bike lanes in both directions on North First Street between MLK Jr Blvd and "I" Street. No bike lanes will be constructed north of "I" Street. Cyclists will be directed on "I" Street to either North 6th Avenue or North 4th Street, both of which connect to the Yakima Greenway.
