The City of Yakima (City) is regulated by the Department of Ecology for stormwater management in accordance with its issued Eastern Washington Phase II Municipal Stormwater National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System General Permit #WAR046013.
The City's Stormwater Division is requesting that Yakima Municipal Code (YMC) 7.85 Stormwater Illicit Discharge be amended for the following:
- Amend YMC 7.85.040 to exempt the following from the list of illicit stormwater discharges: discharges to the stormwater system that are allowed by other National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permits or state waste discharge permits provided that the discharges do not violate the City's stormwater permit; properly managed discharges from hot tubs, spas, and lawn watering; and, other non-stormwater discharges provided that the discharges are in compliance with the requirements of a pollution prevention plan.
- Amend YMC 7.85.095 to update the source for technical assistance for informal compliance actions to the 2019 edition of the Stormwater Management Manual for Eastern Washington.
Codifying the amendments to Section 7.85.040 and Section 7.85.095 completes an important compliance requirement of the City's permit with the Department of Ecology. |
