The City of Yakima (City) has had a longstanding cooperative relationship with the Yakima School District regarding use of City facilities for School District use. The Joint Use Agreement we currently operate under (for activities other than fast pitch softball and Lions Pool usage), was executed in 2006 and has been in effect for over fifteen years. Based on our respective changes in use, and the age of the document, the City believes it is time to discuss entering into a new Joint Use Agreement with the Yakima School District. The current agreement will expire on August 1, 2023, which provides time for the creation of a new agreement.
During the next few months City staff will meet with the Yakima School District staff to discuss the terms and conditions of a new agreement that will address use of City and School District facilities equitably, and which will benefit both organizations and ultimately the park and school users in our area. |
