YAKIMA, WASHINGTON AGENDA STATEMENT |
| | | | | | | | Item No. 11.
For Meeting of: February 7, 2023 |
| | | | | | | | ITEM TITLE: | Resolution authorizing a contract with the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA of Yakima) to provide $2,000,000 of Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds to construct a domestic violence shelter | SUBMITTED BY: | Robert Harrison, City Manager |
SUMMARY EXPLANATION: | The City received federal funding through the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLRF), some of which is proposed to be used to help the YWCA construct a new domestic violence shelter. The proposed shelter would have 45 safe emergency shelter rooms, and be able to house 117 adults and children. It also includes separate emergency shelter rooms for men and their children, which cannot be sheltered at the YWCA’s current facility, office and training space, and meeting rooms. The City is proposing to grant $2,000,000.00 of its SLRF funding to the YWCA, which is a portion of the total costs associated with construction of the shelter. These funds will be paid on a reimbursement basis, and if the shelter is not fully funded, the SLRF money will return to the City to be reallocated pursuant to the guidelines. |
